Alaa qualified in Dentistry with Distinction and embarked on a career in Oral Surgery. Following Implant Dentistry training at University of Münster (Germany), University of Warwick (UK), and Harley Street Dental Excellence, Alaa undertook his junior surgical training at prestigious Barts & the Royal London Hospitals and went to complete his 3-year higher surgical training in Oral Surgery within the Maxillofacial Diagnostic, Medicine & Surgical Sciences Division at the world renowned UCL Eastman Dental Institute, University College Hospital, Royal National Throat Nose Ear Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Subsequently, he was awarded a Master in Clinical Dentistry in Oral Surgery, with Distinction, as well as the tri-collegiate specialty membership examination for Oral Surgery “MOralSurg” of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and was admitted onto the GDC Specialist List in Oral Surgery.
Alaa developed an interest in craniofacial reconstruction completing his master’s thesis in collaboration with the Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering Division at UCL Eastman Dental Institute where he is currently working towards his Doctor of Philosophy “PhD” degree in Maxillofacial Surgery & Tissue Engineering under Prof Jonathan Knowles. He has passion for teaching and holds a Senior Clinical Lecturer position at multiple universities in Europe including Italy, Germany, and the UK training postgraduate dentists in both Oral Surgery and Implant Dentistry. He was chosen by the German Association of Dental Implantology (DGZI), the oldest dental implants society in the world, to be their academic representative in the UK. He manages patients with wide ranges of general Oral & Maxillofacial problems, ranging from complex impacted teeth, advanced implant dentistry and surgical treatments under conscious sedation. He contributes of medical journals and has published many articles.
Outside his work, Alaa is a keen athlete having played Basketball and Tennis at a semi-professional level. He enjoys also classical music concerts and socialising with friends. Alaa speaks English, German, Arabic and French.
